a little bit of everythingPosted by Kris Sat, September 27, 2008 17:34:50I really should hide in shame now that I realize how long it's been since I updated my blog.

So, let's quickly get started on the updates...
First Moby...
You can find the Manchester Hilton pics here:

http://photos.russel-design.be/#0.0A few weeks ago school started again, so I'm pretty busy again...
On monday I have video (filming, editing, effects), so that should be fun.
On tuesday I have Illustrator, so hopefully you'll be able to see some small masterpieces of me here soon

On wednesday I have Photoshop... right now it's going really really really slowly so I'm pretty bored in that class... we'll see how it turns out...
On thursday I have two classes... Geography and Math. Geography this trimester is all about space so I'm really looking forward to that.
Now... the biggest news of all... I got a bit of a new look... Lemme know what you think

That's about it for now... gonna try to keep this blog better updated though...
a little bit of everythingPosted by Kris Fri, July 25, 2008 14:52:52Sorry it's been so long since I wrote anything, but besides getting my math grades, nothing worth writing about happened.
So, I passed math! Yay for me
I was really worried about that as I blanked out on the last two pages, but I made it.
Right now I'm in Manchester... Eve convinced me to join her as we could catch 4 Moby gigs in 2 days if we planned everything right. So, who am I to say no to that
I'm back home on saturday, so I'll try to write a full report on sunday with lots of pictures
Have fun!
New YorkPosted by Kris Mon, June 30, 2008 23:31:30Yes... my latest New York adventure has come to an end... *sniffle*
The last two days I chilled out and took it easy because the first 3/4 days had worn me out so much... I also switched host for the final night to be much closer to Teany.
Brandy and Lewis who hosted me on my final night normally have a roommate who doesn't like the whole CS thing, but now that she was out of town for 10 days, they were asking everyone to send surfers their way.
So big thx to Mike, Brandy and Lewis for allowing me into their apartments and showing such hospitality.
Tomorrow I have to go to work again, so I'd better go to bed now...
Have fun!
New YorkPosted by Kris Sat, June 28, 2008 04:27:45This
blog is dedicated to Linda, who I hope will one day join me to NY.
So… I’ve
been up for nearly 36 hours now and I have to be honest… I feel like everything
is going slower, but I don’t feel as exhausted as I expected I would. Maybe
because I took it easy today…
Anyway…
let’s start from the beginning.
Mike
dropped me off at Columbus Circle where he was going to visit his parents; from
there on I made my way to Teany to have a good vegan dinner. I had the Sheppard’s
Pie with the side salad and the bottled white tea and blueberry. It was very
good food… as always
From
Teany I went to Revival for the CS party, but it didn’t take long before I had
to leave yet again to go to the DJ-set Moby was doing at ‘Santo’s House Party’.
I honestly never expected that the down to Earth New Yorkers would act so crazy
about Moby… When he came on the stage, the crowd went absolutely insane…
nothing compared to the reaction in Europe. I don’t get that… the guy lives
like 10 blocks from that club, and when you live in NY, you can see him
performing almost every month these days, so you’d expect people to be used to
him… apparently… not … like I said, they reacted even more insane than in
Europe… there were even TWO girls who crawled on the stage to hug him and then
be dragged off stage by security. I don’t get why people do that… do they
really expect he’ll like them for acting like that? Oh well, it’s their problem…
he saw me standing in the crowd and he waved at me, so I was happy… even though
I didn’t get to speak to him after the
set… at least he knew I was there.
When I
finally met up with the CS’ers again, it was nearing 4am and some of them went
for a pizza… I love that in NY… middle of the night and you can just get a
piece of pizza… this is nearly impossible in Belgium L
We
arrived at Rockefeller Plaza around 5.15am and we were shocked by how many
people were already in line. Apparently the first 100 people were already there
from 11pm…
The line
was huge and when we finally got our spots on the plaza, we were so far from
the stage that we barely saw anything. So, no good pictures, but I did shoot
some videos. If I get them online, I’ll post the link here.
Around
8.30am, the heat, pain in my feet, exhaustion and too pushy crowd, made us
decide to head back to Mike’s place and see the rest of The Daily Show live on TV…
not really the same, but we had heard some of their songs, so it’s not like we
had been there for nothing. One girl in our small group had also fainted, which
also told us that it was prolly better to get going.
So, when
we got back to Mike’s place we saw the rest of the show. But after a while Mike
decided he needed sleep and went to bed, I saw the rest of the show and then
landed on a Marathon of Dark Angel on Sci-Fi channel. It’s been years since I’ve
seen it and I loved the show, so I kept on watching. Before I knew it 4pm was
there and Mike was getting ready to leave for another CS party. I decided not
to join and instead go to a vegan restaurant and the NBC store to complete my
Heroes collection.
So today
was spend chilling and relaxing and now I’m going to sleep… finally!
Cu tomorrow
for my final full day in NY
Have
fun!
New YorkPosted by Kris Thu, June 26, 2008 23:10:17Wednesday
Mike took me to The Cloisters, it’s a museum in Fort Tryon Park. It’s a
beautiful park with an incredible garden; especially now with all the flowers
and everything blooming. Nice thing is that it’s sorta tucked away all the way
up in upper Manhattan, so it isn’t as crowded as Central Park is on a sunny day.
The
museum is beautiful too. They took all sorts of medieval art and intertwined it
in with the building, the walls, the windows, the doors. So besides the ‘normal’
stuff you find in museums, the building itself is part of the collection.
After
the walk through the park and through the museum we went back to Mike’s place
to get ready for the The Little Death NYC gig that night. Mike had heard that
one of his favorite football players, Tierry Henry, was appearing for a charity
match with other famous sporting names. And that it was very close to where the
gig was going to happen. Of course there were a lot of people who new about the
event, so while Mike was pushing himself through the crowd and climbed up to a
fence, where he hung the entire time, I made my way to Teany for some
refreshing ice tea while I waited for him to join me for dinner.
After
dinner we went to the Mercury Lounge and waited for TLDNYC to start playing.
They were set to start at 11 and they began right on time. The gig was amazing.
It was the best I’ve seen from them so far… I say that every time, so it really
means they get better and more comfortable with the songs every time I see
them. There were also some new songs that they tried out and they sounded
awesome. They told me they’re prolly going into the studio to record some stuff
next month, so I really can’t wait for that to happen… so looking forward to a
cd…
They
were all happy to see me, which is a good thing as they don’t consider me a
stalker apparently ;^)
After
the gig we went a couple of blocks further down the road for the afterparty in
the basement of a pub. We talked, laughed, drank and just simply had an amazing
time. We were back at Mike’s place around 4.30 am and I fell asleep right away.
I slept until 12.30pm and
spend most of the day chilling at Mike’s place, relaxing before the all
nighter that’s gonna start in a few hours.
The plan
for tonight is to meet up with a whole bunch of couchsurfers at a bar called Revival
around 9 pm. Then around 11 pm I’ll be going to Moby’s DJ-set at Santo’s House
Party. After that I’m going back to Revival. Between 4 and 5am we’ll be leaving
Revival to go to Rockefeller Center to see Coldplay play live for NBC’s The
Daily Show.
So I
still have a very busy schedule ahead of me… wish me luck ;^)
Cu tomorrow…
Have
fun!
New YorkPosted by Kris Wed, June 25, 2008 18:29:03This blog is dedicated to the wonderful Eve. I'm missing you here in NY and I wish you would have been able to join me... have fun in Finland for now though.
Now on to my NY adventures:
The
first day started out amazing... I landed around 2pm, took the airtrain from
JFK to Howard Beach and then took the subway to Mike’s place. Mike was so kind
to offer me his couch for the full five nights, so big thx to Mike!
So, I dropped my bags at his place, freshened up and we left straight away for
Central Park to meet up with the other couchsurfers that were going to be
there. When we got there, the others had already claimed a nice spot,
recognizable by three yellow balloons… You need markers like that in a crowd of
60.000 people ;^)
There
were around 30 couchsurfers that showed up and I got to meet a lot of French
people, an Australian girl, a New Zealand guy, a Norwegian guy and I’m prolly
forgetting someone… sorry if I am… I was kinda tired ;^)
Then of
course there are the New York hosts, they are amazing people, just like their
city, vibrant, full of life, warmhearted, simply amazing and totally crazy ;^)
Just take Mike for example, he walked around all night with a crazy fucked-up hat
(his own words)… see the pics after the txt.
So, we
were there for the concert of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and it was
amazing… everyone was sitting down on blankets with a picnic, listening to the marvelous
classical music. After the concert there were fireworks and they also looked
great… especially with the New York skyline peaking over the Central Park trees
as a backdrop.
After the
concert and the fireworks a few of us stayed together and went in search of a
restaurant (and alcohol) where we could sit outside to eat and drink… the
weather was amazing and we stayed on the terrace of a Moroccan/Egyptian
restaurant until around 2.30am.
We got
back to Mike’s place around 3am (I had been awake for 27 hours) and we went to
sleep right away.
Because
someone decided to start banging on the fire escape right outside of the window
around 7.30 am, I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep, but I’ll be fine ;^)
Today
Mike is showing us (he was also hosting a French girl who’s joining us) The
Cloisters and after that we’ll be heading towards The Lower East Side to go see
The Little Death NYC… yay! Can’t wait for that :^D
Cu tomorrow,
Have
fun!
New YorkPosted by Kris Tue, June 24, 2008 06:43:50Don't know if I'll be back again...
I'm about to leave for the airport and then I'm off to New York for 6 days of absolute fun, excitement and music

See you guys when I'm actually there
a little bit of everythingPosted by Kris Thu, June 19, 2008 21:27:04First of
all, this entry is dedicated to Kelly (Quibus) and Danny (BoWie). Thx for
commenting you guys!
Not a
lot happened in the last week…
Had my
math exam last Thursday and I’m anxiously awaiting my result. I sorta had a
black-out on the last two pages, so I really don’t know what to expect… I’ll
keep you guys updated when I know something more.
I’ve
also been able to take my bike to work a couple of times more, so that was
great… still don’t have a feeling it’s getting easier or that I’m losing any
weight, but I hope that’ll chance when the weather finally turns more into
summer weather and when I’ll be able to go with my bike on a daily base…
Of
course the big story is that I’ll be leaving for New York in about 4 days…
So
looking forward to it
I’m
leaving on the 24th and staying in town for 5 nights… I already
found a couch to surf (thx to couchsurfing.com and Michael J-J) for the first
three nights, but I’m still roofless for the final two nights… so if you know
anyone who lives in NYC, and has a spare couch or a square meter of free
floorspace, lemme know
I’m
going to be absolutely exhausted when I get back to Belgium… my first two
nights will be painfully short and the third night I’ll prolly pull an
all-nighter. No plans yet for Friday- or saturdaynight, so if you have any
suggestions, lemme know.
This is
my schedule (more or less) for now:
Tue:
-

That’s

said, questions or suggestion, lemme know
Also, keep an eye on my blog as I'll try to keep you updated daily on my NY adventure.
Have fun!
